THE LOC ARTISTRY

The Loc Artistry by Av was founded in March 2021 by Amoy Virgo. The progression to professional Loctician was second nature to the experienced Registered Nurse of almost two decades. It was a privilege for Amoy to grow up in Jamaica, watching her mother create beauty as a cosmetologist and business owner. Amoy too possessed this creativity and skillset that became evident during her teenage years. Back then, Amoy braided for clients after school and in her free time. Even then, it was evident that she would play a major role in how people would reinvent and nurture themselves. The transition to professional Loctician occurred in early 2021 after Amoy underwent specialized training that included several locing methods. With a goal to continue refining her craft, she later became certified as a Microloc Consultant.

Today, The Loc Artistry by AV is a full-service, people-centered Loc and Braiding salon. In addition to an evolving menu of services, we also offer a variety of premium, all-natural line of hair and skin care products and kits.

Mother to four sons who are her “WHY”, Amoy embodies the long-term commitment to caring for others. Driven by her passion to support client ambitions, she describes her own motivation “to see someone experience a transformational moment.”

When she’s not busy being a nurse, mom and loctician, Amoy enjoys reading, hiking, spoken word and running.

The Loc Artistry by AV is committed to a philosophy of care and philanthropy. In addition to partnerships with organizations to donate services, we’ve also partnered with Mission Food Possible (M:FP), an organization dedicated to reducing food insecurity. A donation of 5% of proceeds from product sales will go towards helping M:FP fulfill this goal.
